Troubleshooting eSIM Connection & Activation Issues
Most eSIM connection issues are simple configuration settings that can be resolved in a few taps. If you are experiencing issues connecting to high-speed data, check the checklist below.
1. Have You Enabled Data Roaming? (Most Common Issue)
Since Steady eSIMs connect via regional partner networks, your device must have Data Roaming toggled ON for the eSIM profile. Do not worry—you will not get charged extra, as Steady is a prepaid utility and your home SIM's roaming remains separate.
How to enable Data Roaming:
- iOS (iPhone): Go to Settings > Cellular > Tap your Steady line > Toggle Data Roaming to ON.
- Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet (or Connections) > SIMs > Select your Steady eSIM > Toggle Roaming to ON.
2. Check Your Primary/Secondary Lines
Make sure your phone is actually using the Steady eSIM for cellular data.
- iOS: Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and make sure Steady is selected. Turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching" to ensure your phone doesn't revert to your home carrier's roaming.
- Android: Go to Settings > SIMs (or SIM manager). Ensure Data is set to use your Steady SIM profile.
3. Select Network Manually (If No Signal or 'No Service')
By default, your eSIM will automatically find a local network provider. If you see "No Service" or are getting no signal, the auto-selection may have failed or chosen a weak provider. You can select the partner network manually.
Our Partner Networks:
- Singapore: Singtel / StarHub
- Malaysia: Maxis / Celcom
- Indonesia: Telkomsel / XL Axiata
- Thailand: AIS / TrueMove H
How to select manually:
- iOS: Go to Settings > Cellular > Select your Steady line > Network Selection > Toggle Automatic to OFF. Wait for the networks to search, and select one of our partners listed above.
- Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Select Steady > Turn off Automatically select network > Choose one of the listed partner networks.
4. APN Settings Configuration (If Connected, but No Data Flowing)
Usually, APN (Access Point Name) configures itself. If your phone displays a signal bar and says LTE/5G but webpages won't load, you may need to update the APN manually.
How to configure APN:
- iOS: Go to Settings > Cellular > Tap Steady > Cellular Data Network. Under the Cellular Data section, write
globaldatain the APN field. Leave username and password blank. - Android: Go to Settings > SIMs > Select Steady > Scroll to Access Point Names > Tap + Add or edit the active APN. Set Name to
Steadyand APN toglobaldata. Tap Save and select this APN.
5. Do NOT Delete Your eSIM Profile!
If you are facing connection issues, do not delete the eSIM profile from your settings. eSIMs are one-time use profiles. Once deleted, the QR code cannot be scanned again, and you will need to buy a new plan.
If you have completed the steps above and still cannot connect, please reach out to us. We will check the status of your profile in our dashboard.
