Is My Device Compatible with eSIM?
Before purchasing a Steady eSIM plan, you must verify that your device supports eSIM technology and is carrier-unlocked.
1. The Golden Rule: Your Device Must Be Carrier-Unlocked
Even if your phone has eSIM hardware, it cannot connect to third-party data providers like Steady if it is locked to a specific mobile network provider (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, Singtel, Softbank, T-Mobile).
How to Check Carrier Lock Status:
- iOS (iPhone/iPad): Go to Settings > General > About. Scroll down to Carrier Lock (or Network Provider Lock). If it says "No SIM restrictions", your device is unlocked. If it says anything else, you must contact your carrier to unlock it before using our eSIM.
- Android: Android settings do not always display lock status explicitly. You can call your carrier or insert a physical SIM from a different network to see if it receives signal. If it prompts you for an "unlock code," your device is carrier-locked.
2. Quick Check on Your Device Settings
If your device is unlocked, verify that eSIM option is available in your operating system:
- Apple iOS (iPhone/iPad): Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see Add eSIM or Set Up Cellular, your device supports eSIM.
- Samsung Galaxy: Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If you see Add eSIM (or Add mobile plan), your device supports eSIM.
- Google Pixel: Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Tap + Add and check if you can choose "Download a SIM instead?" or similar options.
